Operation Materna Mitzvah 16 Extended to
26 Shvat (February 15, 2015)
Operation Materna Mitzvah is in its 16th consecutive year!
During the operation tens of thousands of Materna measuring spoons, formula and cereal packages are collected; the greater the amount amassed, the more formula Materna donates to Chasdei Naomi for needy families.
Many thousands of measuring spoons and packages have already been collected, and devoted volunteers are busy sorting and counting them.
At Chasdei Naomi there is great anticipation; the general public greets the operation with tremendous excitement and each year larger numbers of people mobilize for it.
Rabbi Yosef Cohen, Chair of Chasdei Naomi: “This is one of the most worthwhile joint operations that I know of. The partnership between the general public, which mobilizes to help with the collection, and Materna, which enables us to provide thousands of families with quality food for their babies, is a true blessing. I have no doubt that the tradition that has developed around this operation, and the huge response that it elicits, are due to the strong and longstanding relationship between the Haredi public and Materna.
“Thanks and blessings to the general public, to the tens of thousands of families that join with us in the mitzvah of collecting the spoons and, last but not least, to our dedicated volunteers, without whom these wonderful things could never happen.”
Chasdei Naomi notes that the operation has been extended to 26 Shvat (February 15, 2015).
