For the Children: Children’s Song Illustration and Animation Competition

The Sixteenth Lamb, Parpar Nechmad (“Nice Butterfly”), Yonatan HaKatan and selected children’s songs will come to life again in a special art project for needy children.

The public is invited to create illustrations or animations inspired by Hebrew children’s songs; winning submissions will be awarded prizes and displayed in a gala exhibition at Dizengoff Center. The sales proceeds will go to Chasdei Naomi, on behalf of needy children.

This special project invites the general public to create illustrations or animations inspired by the Hebrew children’s songs that we all know and love. Winning submissions will be printed and displayed at an exhibition to be launched in February, 2015 at the Dizengoff Center art gallery. All of the works will be offered for sale, with the proceeds going to Chasdei Naomi – Israel’s largest charity organization, most of whose work is with needy children and families.

The project, which was initiated by the Israeli Animation College in cooperation with Chasdei Naomi and Dizengoff Center, aims to raise awareness of the plight of needy children throughout Israel.

Winners will be selected by a professional panel, to include illustrators, poets, animators, writers and designers, and will be awarded prizes and scholarships worth a total of NIS 25,000. Among the judges: author Galila Ron-Feder, actor  Asaf Hertz, author Galit Dahan-Carlebach, author Liat Rotner, designer Tom Kook, illustrator Yaniv Shimoni, illustrator Roni Yoffe, 3D artist Almog Mizrahi, 3D artist Menashe Morobuse, 3D artist Shraga Weiss, visual effects artist Amir Green, animator Nir Ginat, animator Uri Alonim, animator Doron Meir and Chasdei Naomi Director Moshe Cohen.

Prizes to be distributed to the highest-ranking submissions include: a full HD 1080P screen; scholarships for study at the Israeli Animation College in the amounts of NIS 7,000, NIS 5,000 and NIS 4,000; and Cinema City VIP tickets.

 Chasdei Naomi provides ongoing support to over 10,000 families living under the poverty line, with the aid of some 20,000 volunteers who work at 40 distribution points around the country. Chasdei Naomi aids needy families on a continuous basis and at times of crisis, providing them with food, heating equipment and baby food; the organization raises the spirits of sick children via special hospital-based projects operates mini-clubs for needy children, and more.

 The Cinema City VIP tickets were generously donated by Moshe Edri, owner of United King and Cinema City.

Book-length comics and action figures were generously donated by the comics store Comikaza.

The screen, scholarships and Shlomo Cohen books were donated by the Israeli Animation College.
