Door-to-Door Backpack Distribution
As the 2024-2025 school year approaches, Chasedei Naomi has forged an exciting new partnership with Bezeq for the ‘Full Backpack’ project. Through this initiative, Chesed Naomi distributes thousands of backpacks and essential school supplies to children from underprivileged families across Israel. Bezeq employees have volunteered to assist with door-to-door backpack delivery.
The ‘Full Backpack’ project was inspired by the personal story of the organization’s chairman, Rabbi Yosef Cohen, who grew up in poverty and intimately understands the challenges. “As a child, I went to school with a plastic bag containing just a pencil and a notebook,” he recounts, his eyes welling with tears. Chesed Naomi has been running this project annually for over a decade.
This year marks Bezeq’s inaugural participation in the distribution effort. Dozens of company employees volunteered to collect packed backpacks from Chesed Naomi’s centers in central, northern, and southern Israel, as well as the Jerusalem area, and distribute them across dozens of Israeli cities.
David Nagar, a Bezeq employee, expressed his enthusiasm for this special collaboration: “My colleagues and I are excited to be part of this wonderful project, ensuring that every child can start the year with new supplies, a smile, and motivation. We’re grateful to Chesedei Naomi for this opportunity, and to Bezeq for emphasizing not just professionalism but also community contribution.”
Each child receives a high-quality new backpack delivered to their home by a Bezeq employee. The backpack contains a wide array of essential school supplies, including a pencil case, writing pencils, markers, highlighters, notebooks, a sharpener, and much more. Chesedei Naomi also includes a sweet treat to ensure a sweet start to the school year.
Chesedei Naomi extends heartfelt thanks to Bezeq and its employees for their impressive engagement and wishes all students success in the upcoming academic year.
