The family asked for extra food products when the father’s illness prevented him from searching in garbage cans
An especially shocking case was revealed in recent weeks in Chasdei Naomi’s branch in the central region.
Mrs. B., a regular client of Chasdei Naomi who herself volunteers in the local branch, asked to increase the food package given to her family as their income had decreased.
Representatives of the organization’s management visited the family’s home and were astounded by what they discovered.
The couple live with their two children aged 3 and 7. The father of the family suffers from severe diabetes, kidney disease and a variety of other medical problems. The mother does not work as she suffers from epilepsy.
Over the years the family eked out a living from selling metal and old articles that the father found in garbage cans and, together with their disability stipend and food packages from Chasdei Naomi, they managed to survive, but only with basic consumer products. The father went without a large part of his medication due to financial considerations.
Because of this, the father’s health recently deteriorated and his diabetes has affected his sight. Therefore, he hardly leaves the house and their small income from selling junk that maintained their household has stopped. The family tried to reduce their expenditure more and more, but when all hope was lost, they asked Chasdei Naomi to increase the quantity of food products they receive.
In the face of this difficult situation, aid packages were sent to them immediately by Chasdei Naomi’s logistical center, and Lev Naomi’s activists helped finance medication and medical appliances.
In order to help with this family’s rehabilitation and get them through the immediate future at least, a special fund has been opened. To donate, please contact Chasdei Naomi 9723-6777-777.
