THE LIVER OF HODAYA YIFRACH

BEHIND THE SMILING HAPPY FACE, LIES HIDDEN A LITTLE GIRL ‘S TOUGH FIGHT AGAINST THE LIVER DISEASE,
WHICH, IN ONE SLICK MOVE, THREATENS TO CUT OFF HER SHORT LIFE.

This is the rare condition of HODAYA YIFRACH, a 6 years old little girl from the city of Netivot, on the South border of Israel, who was born without a bile duct, and this conditions could cause liver failure and harm her spleen. During the past months, her condition has deteriorated and her attending physicians are recommending immediate surgery that is liver transplantation to be performed abroad – not in Israel.

After waiting a few months in the city of Palermo in Italy until a suitable liver was found to save her life, on the 24th September 2009 HODAYA underwent the long-awaited life-saving liver transplant surgery.

HODAYA and her parents have still a long way to go before they can return to Israel. They will have to remain there in Italy for another half a year or so for various treatments, tests and examinations, observation, etc….

It should be noted that during the past year HODAYA ‘s parents have not worked, since they have to be constantly near their daughter ‘s bed abroad. Their stay in Italy is quite expensive as they must cover the cost of rent, food, and other current expenses, and they have been forced to contract various loans for important amounts of money in order to survive there even on the strictest minimum required.
